A handful of centuries ago, the nation now known as Kelindar was actually several small countries. Some of the larger cities in Kelindar were once the seats of those smaller nations; Selvir, Ara, Candle. Kelindar began as a small nation nestled in the center of the expanse of land between the Arryth Ocean and the Valyan Hills. Over time, through marriage and the occasional military skirmish, Kelindar began to grow and consume the smaller nations.
By the time the Caster Wars began, Kelindar had managed to take over every nation except Selvir and Ara. When the first battles began, Kelindar offered a cessation of all political needs in deference to the much more important conflict at hand. Selvir and Ara gladly accepted. As time passed and the war dragged on, it became clear to both nations that the army of Kelindar was spread throughout their country, and that there would be very little they could do once the war was over to remove them.
After the war was over, and the Valyan Hills had been turned into the Black Mountains, Kelindar controlled every inch of land between those mountains and the Aryth Ocean, a distance that was now smaller than before, but still a wide expanse.

Once the throne of Kelindar controlled all of the land, things began to change, some for the better and some for the worse. The war left the country in shambles, physically and socially. People were suspicious, though the creation of the Chancel allowed them to feel safer. It was less than a year after the cessation of hostility and the creation of the Chancel that the non-human races began to feel the full effect of lingering hatred. First, the Banders were politely asked to return to the mountains in which they were so comfortable. Then the Kinnit found themselves unwelcome in cities. The Alfar were the last to get the full brunt of hatred, but it was the worst for them. Alfar were not given the chance to leave; they were murdered. It was known that many of them fought alongside the Casters who had torn the land apart and the humans, deprived of their ability to spend their fury on Casters, settled it instead on the Alfar.
Laws were passed which allowed Banders to come into the cities along the Black Mountains to trade when necessary, that granted permission to the Kinnit to maintain their ancestral homes on the plains and in the forests, but Alfar were labeled as enemies, sentenced to die upon discovery. There need be no crime committed; in the eyes of the human population, they had already committed enough.
Other changes were significantly less violent and restrictive. Public schools were established, so that anyone desiring an education could receive one. A system of roads between the large cities was devised and created, to make travel easier on everyone. The Council of Advisors was formed, a committee to act as oversight to the throne, and to represent different portions of the land. In the event that the current Queen died without an heir, it would be the job of the Council to choose the next monarch.
In the centuries between the end of the war and now, Kelindar has not changed much. A Queen still sits the throne, though Her Majesty, Veronda el a Korelin was elected by the Council of Advisors, not born into the position. The winds of suspicion have begun to blow across the land again, as no one had heard of this woman prior to her ascent to the throne and it is widely rumored that her name had not come up before because she is a sorceress that was locked away in the Chancel. It is also widely rumored that the offer to become the Queen was only extended because she ensorcelled the Council.
